  ShareJR. MAVS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM UPDATE!2013-02-15
Read the "Full Story" for the various upcoming events to raise support for the Jr. Mavs Financial Assistance Program.During the 2012-13 season, we were able to support 17 families with Financial Assistance who otherwise may not have been able to participate. Our goal for the 2013-14 season is to raise enough support so 20 families will be able to take advantage. To accomplish this find below the various events planned to support the "Financial Assistance Program".
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE" PROGRAM EVENTS:
1. Last year we hosted a "Ladies in Laces" game featuring the Mavericks' spouses/girlfriends against the Jr. Mavs mothers. Due to several circumstances, this event will not be held this year. We hope to have it back for next season.
This year, we will be hosting a "Skills & Thrills" Competition for all hockey players, young and old, in the KC area. The event will be RESCHEDULED FOR A LATER DATE FOLLOWING THE END OF THE CHL PLAYOFFS. LOOK FOR THE DATE ANNOUNCEMENT AT THAT TIME. This event will allow players the opportunity to showcase their skills in various events such as hardest shot, accuracy shot, and a 1 lap race. We will offer various age divisions from 8U through adults. Anyone is welcomed to join in the fun. Prizes will be provided to all participants. In addition, we will have Mavericks' players (and MAC) on the ice competing with the players. For the fans, there will be 50/50 raffles to pick who you think will win along with a hockey memorabilia silent auction. 2. Saturday, March 16th, will be a "Skate with Bob" day to support pancreatic cancer. During this day, there will be an All-Star game between Bob's team and Doc's Tavern. This game is at 2:00 pm at the IEC. Then that night the Mavericks play Quad Cities at 7:05 pm. The cost for tickets are $18 and includes admission to both games that day. A portion of the ticket proceeds will go to the Jr. Mavs Financial Assistance program. 3. At the Mavericks game on Saturday, March 16th, we will be having players and parents taking donations from the fans for our Financial Assistance Program. We will have canisters available in the corridors for fans to contribute. Workers are needed for this night to help promote the Program and accept donations. If you are interested in assisting this night, contact Dennis King, dking1123@kc.rr.com for more details. We will need 8 players and 10-12 parents.
4. At the Jr. Mavs Year End Banquet, on Monday, March 11th, we will raffle off a Wayne Gretzky game jersey from his playing days with the New York Rangers along with a framed signed picture. Cost for the raffle will be $25 per entry. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Jr. Mavs Financial Assistance Program. Raffle forms will be available for sale at the banquet. Drawing for the jersey will be made during the banquet. The entry form is also below to complete ahead of time and bring to the banquet. If paying by check, checks may be made payable to "Jr. Mavs Hockey".
If you will not be able to attend the banquet but want to enter for the drawing, you may complete the form below and mail to: Jr. Mavs Hockey, 19100 E. Valley View Pkwy, Independence, MO 64055. Or you may also place your entry form in the Jr. Mavs mailbox located outside the offices on the Community Rink side. All entries must be received prior to the banquet on March 11th!
