JR. MAVS PRE-SEASON SPEED & AGILITY CAMP

Jr. Mavs Family,

Although the heat outside is setting records daily, the Jr. Mavs Hockey Organization is working through it to finalize details on the upcoming season.  As part of our plans for the season, we are pleased to offer a Pre-Season off-ice Speed & Agility Camp.  This camp is offered through our partnership with ProType Sports Academy located just 3 minutes from the IEC at 19310 E. 50^th Terrace, Independence, MO. 

ProType Sports Academy features professional sports trainers and a large facility complete with all the latest training equipment.  Their professional trainer’s certifications include: strength and conditioning specialist; kinesiology; sports medicine; and, sports performance.  Many of the trainers are former professional athletes and all understand what it takes to improve as an athlete.

The Missouri Mavericks are currently in discussions with ProType Sports Academy to offer similar conditioning programs to the Mavericks throughout the season!

The Pre-Season camp will be a 2 hour session on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning on August 7^th and running through the month of August.  Players will be placed in small groups based on their age with players 12 & under conditioning from 6-8 pm and players 13 & older from 7-9 pm.  During the camp the following skills will be developed:  foot speed; agility; transitioning; core strength; balance; eye/hand coordination; fast-twitch muscle development; and, overall athletic development.   In addition, various games will be played to incorporate the skills developed and have fun!   Each activity will be geared to the age and ability of the participant.

The trainers will provide a 1-hour “evaluation/assessment” training on Thursday, August 2 from 6:30-7:30 pm.  This assessment will provide them a baseline on each participant to assist them on developing the appropriate program for the player.  This assessment will be done again at the end of the 4-week program to show each player's progress.

Cost for the full month (16 hours of instruction) is $120 per player (this is $7.50 per hour).  This is a negotiated Jr. Mavs rate which is over 50% off their standard published rates.  To register for the Pre-Season Camp, complete the registration form below and either drop the completed form with payment in the Jr. Mavs mailbox at the IEC Community rink or mail it to:  Jr. Mavs Pre-Season Camp; 19100 E. All applications must be received by Wednesday, August 1^st.

The Jr. Mavs organization will be partnering with ProType Sports Academy during the season to offer continued hockey skill development for any player interested.  Look for more details at our Jr. Mavs Open House on Saturday, August 18^th from noon to 4 pm at the IEC.   An email regarding the upcoming season will be sent within the next 10 days.

As an organization, we continue to identify opportunities for our players which will improve their hockey skills and experience.   We are excited to provide this partnership with ProType Sports Academy and are confident players who participate will see improvement in their game this season!  We hope many of you are able to take advantage of this offering.
